The city of Tupelo held its Veterans Day program at Veterans Park with a Mississippi Army National Guard colonel giving the main address.

First District Congressman Trent Kelly, a National Guard brigadier general, spoke at two events — one at Guntown Middle School, one in Oxford.

And American Legion Post 49 in Tupelo dedicated a room in memory of World War Two veteran David “Son” Puckett, who spent time in a prison camp after his plane was shot down over Japan.
