Okolona ordered to hold another election for town marshal

OKOLONA, Miss. (WTVA) — A judge ordered another election to settle an election challenge for Okolona town marshal.

Mayor Sherman Carouthers said he got word of the order Tuesday from Special Circuit Court Judge Barry Ford.

The same judge a few years earlier named Tommie Lee Ivy Senior the winner of the 2017 Democratic primary, a decision challenged by William Randle Junior, who was declared the original winner. Ivy eventually was sworn in as the town’s top law enforcement officer.

Carouthers said this latest order gives him five days to set the special election. He plans to look into the matter more Wednesday.
