Child killed in Oktibbeha County crash

OKTIBBEHA COUNTY, Miss. (WTVA) – An 8-year-old boy died after a wreck in Oktibbeha County Wednesday, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

A pickup truck rear-ended a car on Highway 25 near Craig Springs, Sgt Derrick Beckom said. Wyatt Rogers, 8, his mother, and his father were inside the car.

An ambulance took Wyatt and his mother to the hospital, where the coroner later pronounced the child dead.

The driver of the truck was airlifted to a hospital in Jackson.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. 

Henderson Ward Stewart Elementary School in Starkville posted about Wyatt on Facebook.

“It is with heavy hearts the HWS family shares tonight that we have lost one of our little yellow jackets,” the school said. “Please, please pray for everyone involved. We are broken-hearted.”
